Healthbanks Public Search

HLA(Human Leukocyte Antigen) is a genetic marker can be found in all human nucleated cells. This antigen can recognize self from non-self, therefore hematopoietic stem cell or bone marrow transplant is very important to match of donor and recipient to avoid GVHD.

We collect, process, test and preserve cord blood that is donated to us for use by anyone who might need it. Our laboratory have obtained many different accreditations to assure our quality, includes FACT, CAP and AABB.

The purpose of this feature is to provide a preliminary view of a patient’s likelihood of finding a suitable match from the Healthbanks inventory of publicly cord blood units. This “public” online search capability can be used by any interested party and is carried out at low resolution of HLA matching. In general, cord blood transplant recipient do better when they get a cord blood unit that closely matches their HLA type at high resolution or has a good cell dose. Patients can also do well with a cord blood unit that is only a 4/6 match but has a relatively high cell does.

PLEASE NOTE:
Healthbanks “public” search is NOT a “formal” search request. ONLY Transplant Centers can submit a formal search request.
(You can either download our search form and submit via fax or complete your request in our webpage)
Healthbanks public search provides the number of cord blood units available at the time of the search in our public cord blood inventory that match the patient’s HLA type at the 6/6, 5/6 or 4/6 low resolution level. Please note that the inventory changes weekly.
